Day 1: ARRIVE SIEMREAP (B/-/-)
Upon arrival at Siem Reap you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon you will have a tour of the Angkor Wat Temple before making your way to the hilltop temple of Phnom Bakheng to watch the sunset over this ancient land.Diner at the hotel. Overnight in Siemreap.
Day 2: ANGKOR WAT (B/-/-)
Following kfast you wbreaill visit Angkor Thom, the South Gate, Bayon, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. From here you will then make your way to visit Ta Prohm before an afternoon visit to Preah Khan, Neak Pean, East Mebon and Pre Rup temples. Overnight in Siemreap.Day 3: ANGKOR WAT (B/-/-)Breakfast at the hotel. Morning boat trip on Tonle Sap lake before proceeding further to Prasat Kravan, Bantaey Srei and Bantaey Kdei. Breakfast at the hotel, we then embark on a lovely biking around Angkor templs and though the country side to get more insight into rural life. We then head back to the hotel for check out and lunch. Afternoon visit Landmine before our flight back to Saigon. Afternoon visit Independent Palace, War Crime museum, Thien Hau pagoda, Ho Chi Minh City Museum and China town. Day 5: HCM CITY - MEKONG DELTA (B/L/-)
The Mekong Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam. Often referred to as the rice bowl of Vietnam, producing three crops of rice per year. The fertile Mekong Delta is also famous for its tropical fruits and flowers. The Delta area is the end of a 4500 km. journey the Mekong River makes after traveling through six countries. Traditional transportation in the Delta is by boat along a vast network of canals and channels. Boating along these canals and visiting the floating markets always proves to be a fascinating experience for all visitors. We drive to Vinhlong, boat through the lush green vegetation of the canals to a orchard, where we are treated to a lunch of delicious tropical fruits. O/N Hochiminh city.
Day 6: CUCHI TUNNELS (B/-/-)
Drive to visit the Cuchi Tunnels. At the height of the Vietnam war, the tunnel system stretched from the outskirts of Saigon all the way to the Cambodian border of over 250 kilometers of tunnels. The tunnel system, built over 25 years starting in the 1940s, let the Viet Minh and, later, the Viet Cong, control a huge rural area. It was an underground city with living areas, kitchens, storage, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers. In places, it was several stories deep and housed up to 10,000 people who virtually lived underground for years.... getting married, giving birth,going to school. The ground here is hard clay, which made this whole thing possible. But even so, the planning and construction was incredible. People dug all this with hand tools, filling reed baskets and dumping the dirt into bomb craters. They installed large vents so they could hear approaching helicopters, smaller vents for air and baffled vents to dissipate cooking smoke. There were also hidden trap doors and gruesomely effective bamboo-stake booby traps. Today, the trees and bushes have grown back. And since 1988, two sections of tunnels have been open for visitors. After Cuchi Tunnels tour. Return Saigon. O/N in Hochiminh city.
Day 7: HCM CITY - HUE (B/-/-)
Transfer to airport for the short flight to Hue. Upon arrival to Hue, we start our city tour to visit Citadel and Imperial purple city, imposing Thien Mu pagoda and board the trip from here for a cruise on perfume river. Visit Honchen temple and Minh Mang tomb. We then disembark the board for a visit to Tuduc royal tomb , time permitting we visit Phu Cam and Notre Dame Cathedrals. O/N in Hue.
Day 8: HUE - HOIAN (B/-/-)
Head out on scenic driver over Cloudy Pass to Danang . Visit Cham Sculpture museum where display fine artifacts and sandstone statues of Cham people. Visit Marble mountain and crafting village before our drive to Hoian. O/N in Hoian.
Day 9: HOIAN (B/-/-)
Hoi An is a delightful small town easily explored by foot. More than any other place in Vietnam, Hoi An retains the feeling of centuries past and is a favorite with all travelers. We will have a walking and cycling tour around the historic town soaking up the atmosphere, exploring the fascinating local market. Visit the old houses and temples and attend the cooking lesson at Caudo bridge. O/N in Hoian.
Day 10: HOIAN - DANANG - HANOI (B/-/-)
Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to airport for the flight to Ha Noi. Upon arrival to Hanoi airport, you will be picked up and transferred to our hotel in Hanoi. Overnight at hotel in Hanoi.
Day 11: HANOI - HALONG (B/L/-)
This morning we head out for a 3 hour drive through verdant Red River Delta to Halong bay where we board our own private sampan for a five-hour cruise around the secluded and majestic Ha Long Bay giving us the chance to take in the stunning scenery of this World Heritage Site. Whilst on board a sumptuous fresh local seafood lunch will be served. There will be opportunities for a swim and time to explore some of the limestone caves in the area. Day 12: HANOI - CITY TOUR (B/-/-)
Today we will have a city tour by bike to visit Ho Chi Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh house, presidential palace, one pillar pagoda and Temple of literature – Vietnam’s first national university and wonderful Museum of Ethnology. Enjoy fish cake lunch at typical Hanoi restaurant, Chaca La Vong. Visit Fine Art Museum followed by walking tour through the mazes of old quarter Visit Hang Bong Street to purchase Communion party banners/badges. Visit Hanoi famous Art Galleries. FebruaryVat Phu festival in Champasak province.This festival is held during the full moon of the lunar calendar on the ground of the enchanting pre-Ankorian Vat Phu ruins in Champassak. Includes elephant races, buffalo fights, cock fighting and performances of traditional music and dance. There is a trade fair displaying products of southern Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. That Sikhotabong festival in Kammouane province.This traditional religious festival is held in That Sikhotabong stupa located about 8 km south of Thakhek. Built during 9th and 10th centuries, the stupa was restored in 1950s. AprilLaos new year festival in many places especially in Vientiane and Luang Prabang provinces."Pi Mai" or lunar new year is the time when the entire country (it also is celebrated in Thailand and Myanmar at the same times) take part in this water cleansing event to mark the entering into new year. If you are planning to visit Laos, here are some advice to help you avoid trouble. A Visa is required to enter Laos and this should be applied for at least 5 working days prior to departure. However, it is now also possible to collect visas on arrival at Vientiane International Airport, Luang Prabang International Airport and the Friendship Bridge between Laos and Thailand without prior authorisation. This costs 75AUD for single entry or 90AUD for double entry and requires the filling in of an application form and one passport size photo. The airport tax in Laos for International Flights is 10USD and Domestic Flights is 1USD. Offices and museums are usually open from Monday to Friday from 8:00am until 4:00pm and often close for lunch between 12:00am and 2:00pm. Shops open from Monday to Saturday between 9:00am and 5:00pm and some also open on Sunday. Laos has a nationwide curfew of 12am so try to avoid going out or travel late at night. People travelling at night can be searched, detained and possibly fined by authorities if they cannot present suitable identification. Travellers should comply with requests to stop at checkpoints and roadblocks. Avoid carrying large sums of money and keep valuables, including passports in a secure place. There are no ATM machines in Laos, but major hotels and banks in Laos accept credit cards and travellers cheques. Laos has a one party system. Do not accuse the government or talk about politics at any time. Respect the language, history, tradition and culture. Non-marital sexual relationships aren't permitted under Lao law. You must inform Lao authorities for marriage or engagement. Penalties for failing to register a relationship range from 500USD - 5,000USD and may also involve imprisonment.
